Creating Your LinkedIn Profile

We currently live our lives through a lens at the moment and never before has there been a greater availability of information through social media.

We have all heard of LinkedIn and people’s thoughts and opinions differ vastly to the relevance and importance. As members of IoSCM it allows us to;

  • Connect with like-minded professionals from relevant sectors and broaden exposure to hiring managers and recruiters
  • Promote events and industry relevant content and use as a great research tool
  • Demonstrate knowledge, credibility and leadership expertise
  • Headhunt talent and advertise vacancies, it also has a great jobs board
  • Keep in contact with the people that we are trying to assist through Professional Development
  • Develop a social proof for your skills and talents

So when we are asked, what will LinkedIn do for me, the answer is simple, it will allow you to create a personal and exclusive online brand, which will widen your strategic reach and connect with key decision makers, whilst making you visible to recruiters. The great thing is, you can be as visible and active as you choose to be.

It is all about your professional credibility as it lets you instantly add value and credibility to your CV. The two should work hand in hand, reflecting each other and should contain mostly the same information, one being via email or platform and the other being electronically available or searchable.

Important to note though, whilst LinkedIn is written in first 1st Person your CV should be written in 3rd person. It is common fact that potential employers post CV sift, will compare the LinkedIn profile with the CV, ensuring there are no glaring errors.

At IoSCM we have tried to take the worry and stress out of your LinkedIn Profile and we have created a step by step guide to creating your personal brand.

However, if this is something that you would like further assistance with, again this is a service we can provide free of charge through the Forces Transition Group opposite.
